Barely a day gets by in Nigeria, that we don’t hear issues of insecurity. Report has it that, some unidentified gunmen stormed Ndufu-Alike, Ikwo community, in the Ikwo L.G.A of Ebonyi, they allegedly shot one person in the head and set a vehicle on fire.

According to witnesses, the Gunmen invaded the market and asked everyone to leave the market, and told them to observe the sit-at-home order. They also set a vehicle on fire, the owner of the vehicle who attempted to quench the fire was shot in the head and legs.

source said, “The gunmen came into the market and ordered traders and shop owners to vacate the market. They also told them to observe the sit-at-home.

“After dispatching the traders and shop owners, the gunmen set ablaze a vehicle. As the vehicle owner (name withheld) attempted to quench the fire, they (gunmen) shot him in the head and legs.”

Mr. Friday Nnanna, the Ebubeagu security outfit commander, confirmed the incident, he stated that the Gunmen were not members of the IPOB, as they are local thieves who came to rob the traders of their hard-earned money.

He further assured everyone, that they are currently trying to arrest the unknown gunmen, since they remembered the clothes they wore, and are seriously trying to track them down, and by tomorrow they’ll have arrested the.

He said, “What happened was that some boys invaded the Nwakpu market to rob traders. They (gunmen) are not members of IPOB. This is because they (gunmen) came into the market with locally-made pistols.

“Ebubeagu is on ground to arrest those boys because we know the clothes they (the gunmen) are wearing, and so, we are after them.

“We are on track to get them. We are putting on our searchlight on them to arrest them. From now till tomorrow, we will apprehend them.”
