To sensitize Nigerians who have voiced concerns about the quality of the notes, the Nigerian Security Printing and Minting Plc has highlighted some elements of the new naira notes.

In a statement released on Friday and signed by NSPM’s managing director, Ahmed Halilu, the business emphasized the importance of educating Nigerians on the new Naira’s features.

The quality of the recently unveiled and issued redesigned banknotes by the Central Bank of Nigeria has been the subject of numerous clips, skits, complaints, and remarks on various platforms. This has caught the attention of the Nigerian Security Printing and Minting Plc.

However, they want to let everyone in Nigeria know that the new naira notes are made of the same materials and went through the same printing and finishing processes.

Therefore, it is essentially the same as the other notes in use. When rubbed on plain white surfaces, it also leaves intaglio ink traces. It is crucial to remember that fresh banknotes tend to be light when first issued before becoming heavier as they circulate after coming into contact with dirt and moisture.

They added that to give the portraits and other raised prints by way of design a tactile sensation, the second stage of money printing (Intaglio) needs a heavy deposit of special inks with quite large particles.

On October 26, CBN Governor Godwin Emefiele announced changes to the N200, N500, and N1,000 notes. He stated that the old naira notes may be exchanged up to January 31, 2022, and that it will go into effect on December 15.
