The management of Godfrey Okoye University, Enugu State, has outlawed indecent
dressing and implemented a new dress code for students and staff.

Christian Anieke, the university’s vice-chancellor, had given the order on Tuesday,
January 10 while speaking to staff and students returning from the yuletide holidays.
According to Aneke, all students of the university should wear their faculty uniforms with appropriate ties and shoes.

“No student is expected to wear slippers, rugged jeans, colored hair, long fingers, face caps, or artificial eyelashes,” he had decreed.

Mr. Anieke had additionally expressed regret that the majority of the student population and staff wear t-shirts with unauthorized inscriptions, violating the school’s dress code.

Male students had also been mandated to properly comb or shave their hair.

The vice-chancellor also revealed that the university’s management had enforced
qualitative assessments of all teaching and non-teaching staff.

“Principal officers of the institutions will from here on, visit the lecture halls to assess the lectures by the academic staff while the non-teaching staff will submit their roll calls at the beginning and closing of each day’s activities,” Mr. Anieke disclosed.

“Students who fail to attend lectures will not be allowed to sit for their examinations.”
