The Nigeria Police Force, NPF, has admitted that certain aggrieved senior officers in Borno and Yobe States are planning a mega protest over their unpaid six months’ salary arrears by the police authorities. This was according to a police signal obtained by SaharaReporters.

According to the officers, the protest will hold at the headquarters of Zone 15 in Maiduguri, SaharaReporters gathered.

The policemen, who revealed that their six-month allowance increment had yet to be paid, asked President Muhammadu Buhari to rescue them from the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba.

Recall that President Buhari 2021 had approved a new salary structure for the Force.

The approved police salary structure whose implementation was supposed to have begun in January 2022 was only enforced in July 2022 with only one-month arrears of payment, with six months outstanding.

The officers affected by the nonpayment of the salary arrears include senior inspectors, Assistant Superintendents of Police, -ASPs, Deputy Superintendents of Police, -DSPs, Superintendents of Police, and Chief Superintendents of Police.

Meanwhile, the police authorities have cautioned the officers planning to stage a protest to stop or be ready to face the harsh consequences.

In the police signal, personnel serving in Zone 15 were warned to be professional and desist from any protest which could lead to mutiny.
