The attack on Mr. Peter Obi in Katsina on Monday was denounced by the Obi-Datti Presidential Campaign Council.
In a statement on Tuesday, Diran Onifade, it’s Head of Media, said, “Our candidate had met with women in a town hall and then held a hugely successful rally at the Muhammad Dikko Stadium.
However, when traveling to the airport, thugs assaulted the labor party candidate’s car with large stones from the driver’s side, seriously damaging it, Mr. Obi and the other car occupants were unharmed.
Another group of thugs then threw stones at vehicles outside the stadium, including those belonging to our official stage crew.
The two instances taken together lead them to suspect that the attacks may have been planned at the direction of desperate politicians who had been fooling themselves into thinking they had the North-West under lock and key but are now frightened by the Obidient Movement’s show of force in the area.
They praised the good people of Katsina for turning out in large numbers to support their campaign yesterday and urged security officials to look into the incident to prevent similar incidents in the future.
