According to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), around 800,000 Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) remain uncollected in Oyo State.

Adeniran Tella, the State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), announced this at a stakeholders’ meeting in Ibadan on Wednesday, February 1.

The conference was part of a nationwide Mock Voters’ Accreditation/Verification exercise that is still in progress.

Tella indicated that INEC is well prepared for the approaching election, citing many training sessions for employees and ad hoc staff members in the state.

He stated that the goal of the fake voter accreditation was to uncover any potential concerns that might develop during the actual election, allowing the Commission to make necessary adjustments.

The REC went on to say that the fake voter accreditation procedure will take place in six councils: Akinyele, Atiba, Iseyin, Ogbomoso North, Ibadan North, and Ido.

He stated that the exercise would put 12 polling units in the state’s three senatorial districts to the test and that it would take place this Saturday, February 4 from 8 a.m. to 2.30 p.m. in all affected local government areas and polling units.

Tella underlined the significance of possessing a PVC, claiming that it acts as a voter’s power on election day.
