The national population and housing census will still take place in the volatile Sambisa Forest this year, according to Nasir Isa Kwarra, Chairman of the National Population Commission (NPC).
All buildings, even those in the villages, he claimed, had been photographed and geo-coded.
Kwarra said Wednesday in Abuja at the launch of the census publicity committee.
The head of the NPC promised Nigerians that the commission will conduct a census with a definite date for planning and that nearly all necessary materials had been acquired.
Nigeria must conduct the upcoming census, according to words made by Minister of Information and Culture Lai Mohammed, for planning and development for the country.
In contrast to the mandated 10-year period, the minister reminded that Nigeria had not performed a census in more than 17 years.
Even though there are numerous other activities taking place nationwide, he claimed that the nation must perform a census this year.
