The National Examination Council (NECO) has issued the results of the 2022 Senior School Certificate Examination, which was held from November 21st to December 21st, 2022, fifty-seven days after the previous paper.

NECO Registrar Prof Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi, who made the news on Thursday in Minna, Niger State, remarked,

The exam had 59,124 candidates, with 31,316 males representing 52.96 percent and 27,808 females representing 47.03 percent.

Wushishi further stated that the number of applicants who sat for the English Language is 58,012 out of which 44,162, or 76.13 percent, received Credit and above, while the number of candidates who sat for Mathematics is 57,700, with 43,096, or 74.69 percent, receiving Credit and above.

He also revealed that 33,914 candidates received five credits or more, including English Language and Mathematics, accounting for 57.36 percent of the total.

In addition, 46,825 candidates, or 79.20%, received five (5) credits or more in English Language and Mathematics.

On the subject of examination misconduct, he stated that 11,419 applicants were booked for various forms of malpractice in 2018, compared to 4,454 in 2021, indicating a significant increase in the number of malpractice cases.

According to him, this is largely attributable to an improvement in the monitoring officers’ approach and technique.

As a result, four (4) supervisors, one (1) each from Rivers and Plateau States, and two (2) from Ogun State were blacklisted for aiding and abetting as well as poor supervision.
