Election activities are currently ongoing in several local government Areas in Edo state. In Ekpesa Community in Akoko Edo Local Government Area, there is only two polling units center. I visited the first Polling unit center ( Ekpesa Health Centre), with the polling unit code of 026, the Name of the Registration area is 04.
People were already at the polling unit from 7:00 am, the ad-hoc INEC officials arrived at 8:20 am, and Accreditation started at 9:15 am.
The Security at the polling unit is not tight as only one policeman is on duty, however, on speaking with some people, they confirmed they some army officials have been moving around the area, to check for any sort of illicit activities.
There are no INEC officials, but there is about four ad-hoc staff in charge of the accreditation and voting. Voting has commenced and the elections have been free and fair so far. There have been no cases of election violence, and no cases of vote buying.
The people are very eager and excited to exercise their franchise.
