The National Economic Council said on Thursday in Abuja that it has decided that the gasoline subsidy should “not be removed” as originally anticipated for June 2023.
This was revealed to State House reporters by Mrs. Zainab Ahmed, the Minister of Finance, Budget, and National Planning, just after the final Council meeting, which was presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and held in the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The Council, according to Ahmed, agreed that further debate on the matter was necessary, and he added that the FG, as well as the states and representatives of the new administration, need more preparation.
Between now and June 2023, Ahmed said, the FG would collaborate with state officials.
