A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, on Thursday, April 27 has declined a request seeking an order to postpone the 2023 Census marked to be held from May 3 to 5.
Justice Inyang Ekwo who refused to approve the application had instead asked the applicant, Omotuyi Ademola, to put the defendant, the National Population Commission, on notice.
According to Ekwo, the applicant’s lawyer had moved a motion for an interim injunction to postpone the 2023 census exercise but had however, considered the motion and had opined for the defendant to be put on notice and to appear in court and explain the cause why the applicant’s motion should not be granted.
Meanwhile, Justice Ekwo has subsequently adjourned the case until May 5, for the defendant to show cause.
