Brentford striker Ivan Tony has been banned from all football-related activities for eight months for breaking betting rules.

Tony was indicted by the Football Association in November for 262 offenses over four years and received an “immediate” disqualification.

The 27-year-old England international was banned until mid-January and fined £50,000 after pleading guilty to 232 offenses.

The FA’s statement issued that Ivan Tony has been suspended from all football and football-related activities with immediate effect for eight months until 16 January 2024, fined £50,000 and has been found guilty of breaching FA wagering rules. The Brentford FC forward has been charged with breaking FA Regulation E8 a total of 262 times between 25 Februar2017 and 23 January 2021. The FA subsequently retracted 30 of those violations and admitted the remaining 232.

The Independent Regulatory Commission has sanctioned the player, barring him from training with his teammates until Sept. 17.

Having made one appearance for England against Ukraine in March, Tony has scored 21 goals in 35 appearances for Brentford this season.

His absence will be a blow to the team, as his goals played a key role in helping them climb to ninth place in the Premier League ahead of the final two games of the season.
