Red Bull’s Max Verstappen, the two-time world champion, showcased his dominance in a rain-soaked and treacherous Monaco Grand Prix on Sunday, May 26, leading the race from start to finish. This victory not only extended Verstappen’s lead in the Formula One championship by 39 points but also marked Red Bull’s exceptional sixth consecutive win this season.

The typically processional race was enlivened by a sudden downpour, which arrived after 51 laps of dry conditions. Despite the challenging weather conditions, Spaniard Fernando Alonso secured an impressive second place for Aston Martin, albeit trailing a substantial 27.9 seconds behind Verstappen at the checkered flag.

In a noteworthy achievement, Frenchman Esteban Ocon secured third place on the podium for Renault-owned Alpine, their first podium finish of the season. Mercedes’ seven-time world champion, Lewis Hamilton, crossed the finish line in fourth position, also clinching a bonus point for setting the fastest lap.

Verstappen’s triumph in Monaco was his fourth victory of the season, and notably his second in the prestigious street circuit. It marked a significant milestone in his career, being his 39th career win. Meanwhile, Verstappen’s Mexican teammate, Sergio Perez, faced a challenging race after starting from the last position due to a qualifying crash. Perez concluded the race in 16th place, finishing two laps behind the leaders.

Securing fifth place was Mercedes’ George Russell, while local hero Charles Leclerc delighted Ferrari fans by finishing in sixth position.
