NLC Reacts As NNPC Adjusts Fuel Pump Price

Since the President announced the removal of fuel subsidies during his inauguration, Nigeria as a country has gone berserk, as suddenly there seems to be no fuel anywhere. Petrol stations are choked up with vehicles, even as the prices have skyrocketed from N185 per litre to N400-600 respectively.

The Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC has reacted to the confirmation of the fuel price hike by the NNPC. According to a statement by the President of the union, Joe Ajearo, the sudden hike in fuel prices was illegal and he had the Nigerian Government to blame for it as he said that such a decision required serious talks before it can be implemented.

He further beckoned on the Nigerian government to immediately order NNPC to withdraw the statement including the new price template, so that both parties can dialogue, and conditions can be met.

The NLC President had said:

“We urge the federal government to immediately instruct the NNPC to withdraw this vexatious pricing template to allow free flow of discussions by the parties. Nigerians will not accept any manipulations of any kind from any of the parties, especially from the representatives of the Government.
