On Friday, the Osun Amotekun Corps, led by Brig-Gen. Bashir Adewinmbi, disclosed the capture of two suspected burglars in Ila-Orangun and a suspected cultist in Ilesa. In a statement released to the press, Adewinmbi revealed that the two suspected burglars, identified as Abeh Abu (25) and Isaac John (19), both hailing from Plateau State, were apprehended while attempting to sell stolen household items, including a television set, a DVD player, and a mattress.

“The suspects were arrested in Ila-Orangun, Osun State, during the process of trying to sell the stolen items. Abeh Abu confessed during our investigation that he had previously stolen a motorcycle earlier this year and sold it to an accomplice, a known buyer of stolen goods in Ondo State,” Adewinmbi stated.

Following their confession, the suspects assisted the Osun Amotekun operatives in locating their accomplice, Abah Bello, who was on the wanted list of the Ondo State Amotekun Corps. Bello, the buyer of stolen items, was apprehended in Ondo State and subsequently handed over to the Ondo Amotekun Corps.

In addition, a 17-year-old suspected cultist was arrested in Ilesa carrying an axe. During a routine patrol in Ilesa Town, Amotekun operatives intercepted the suspect and two others on a motorcycle. While the other individuals managed to flee, the suspect was found in possession of the axe. Upon questioning, he admitted his affiliation with the Eiye Confraternity.

All three suspects have been transferred to the police for further investigation and prosecution, as confirmed by Adewinmbi.

The corps commander urged residents of the state to remain vigilant and promptly report any criminal activities or suspicious incidents to the appropriate security agencies.
