Why OAP Dotun Is Crying After 10 Months

Well-known on-air personality, Kayode Ojuolape Oladotun, popularly known as Do2dtun, has cried out to the Nigerian public, revealing that he is being denied access to his kids.

A trip down memory lane will remind us all that Do2dtun’s wife, Omotayo had in 2022, filed for separation from him over an alleged forced abortion, domestic violence and emotional abuse.

The estranged couple had gotten married in 2013 and the marriage had produced two kids.

Dotun had made the public privy to this information via a post he shared on his official Instagram page on Sunday, June 18.

The distraught father had disclosed that it had been 10 months since he had seen or talked to his kids, stressing that he missed them so much.

The On-air personality had left an emotional message that partly read:

“ If you are a father out there, for posterity and goodwill, fight for your place or right to stay in their lives. Every child needs their father just the same way they need their mother. No one should use children as their power or substitute their emotions.”

Fife and Fiore, Daddy just wants his time with you as he deserves but they deny it; (they) disobey the law because they are scared, cowardly and immature.

According to the Nigerian Child Custody Law, a father had the absolute right to the custody of his legitimate children until they reached the age of majority (18yrs in Nigeria).

Even in the diaspora, Child Custody Laws are taken very seriously, in that defaulting upon a court-ordained directive could lead to severe consequences.

One of the common custody arrangements is the 50/50 law or otherwise known as joint custody, but the decision of choosing a custody arrangement solely rests on the court.

It isn’t clear at the time of writing this report if the divorce between Oladotun and his wife has been finalised but it is expected for the father to have access to his children.

Of course in Nigeria, such cases are fairly common but the resolution rate is nothing to write about. Hopefully, as this is a fairly high-profile case, the affected parties will meet to resolve their issues amicably, with less drama than is commonplace for a marital crisis like this.
