UGANDAN TERRORIST ATTACK: SUSPECTS ARE ARRESTED
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterShare on Whatsapp

Ugandan authorities have revealed that three people in connection with the deadly terrorist attack at Mondwe Lhubiriha Secondary School have been arrested.

The death toll at the time of filing this report is 40.

Joe Walusimbi, the District Commissioner had revealed that the arrests had been made with the information gathered from local residents.

It is yet to be ascertained if the arrested individuals are members of the Allied Democratic Forces, ADC, the prime suspects of the attack who had
reportedly retreated to the Democratic Republic of Congo, DRC, Uganda’s neighbouring country.

The ADF group, formed in the 1990s had taken up arms against President Yoweri Museveni, on the grounds of him discriminating against muslims in the country.

This attack would have been prevented if President Museveni had succeeding in crushing the terrorist group.

It has been revealed that the group operates from Eastern DR Congo. This means that either the Congolese government couldn’t be bothered about a terrorist group making its country its home-base for plotting destruction, or that it is allegedly ‘helpless’ to these bandits, for fear of an attack on its people?

These wanted rebels had set fire to dormitories and attacked some students with machetes, while the others had been left to be  burnt to death in their dormitory. Several have also been abducted.

Security guards, 47-year-old Elphanas Mbusa and 17-year-old Masereka Elton had also been casualties of this attack.
The funerals for the deceased had been held on Sunday, June 18.

President Museveni has promised to reinforce the troops at Rwenzori Mountains, along the border between Uganda and the DR Congo.

While this is commendable, the President should have already done this at the 48 hour mark after the attack to ensure that most if not all the abducted persons are rescued before further harm befall them.
