Renowned Nigerian actress, Omotola Jalade Ekeinde, famously tagged ‘Omosexy’ has stated that Nollywood had been the one to launch the Nigerian Entertainment industry to the limelight, way before Afrobeats came into the picture.
Omotola’s revelation had come via a post she had made on her Instagram page, reminiscing on her impact in Nollywood and the world before social media became popular.
Omotola had also shared the old movie clips with some of her colleagues in the industry as proof of Nollywood being popular to the world before the emergence of Afrobeats.
Posting the videos which starred Rita Dominic, Genevieve Nnaji and Stella Damasus in them, Omotola had reiterated that they were solid proof that Nollywood had been a world wide phenomenon.
It is no hidden fact the influence Nigerian media has had for over a decade across the globe.
Nollywood entertainment has travelled very far and wide, especially in the advent of social media. From the use of memes to the short video snippets seen and shared on almost every social media app by Nigerians and non-Nigerians alike, Nollywood has succeeded in carving out a name for itself.
