Guinness World Record holder, Hilda Baci, will once again, display her culinary skills in Lagos on Friday, July 14, in an attempt to raise funds for a widow.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria, Chef Baci’s dishes will be sampled, in an initiative by Joseph Edgar, The Duke of Shomolu, to help widows and emancipate them to be self-reliant.
Mr Edgar, the Chief Executive Officer of Duke of Shomolu Productions, a theatrical play-producing outfit, had made this disclosure on Sunday, July 9.
Worthy of note, is the fact that Mr Edgar’s initiative, which has spanned three years, had raised over N10 million for estimable widows.
This plan would involve the close friends and associates of The Duke of Shomolu. They would donate cash instead of gifts to celebrate his birthdays. These funds would then be sent to needy widows, who would be nominated by the general public.
In 2022, 2 million Naira was donated to four vetted widows by the friends and associates of the Duke of Shomolu.
This year, however, 3 million Naira had been raised.
Chef Baci will be cooking for 10 people at the Ivy Hotel at Emerald in Ikeja GRA, Lagos.
At the end of the affair, the total sum of 1 million Naira will be donated to any widow of her choice.
Mr Edgar had also revealed that Prothrive Astute Heights Ltd., the makers of Grandios Pap, would be the sponsors for the event, as part of their social responsibility.
A commendable initiative worthy of emulation by the Nigerian public.
