A Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos, had on Tuesday, July 25 granted Godwin Emefiele, the suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, bail.
The High court had granted Emefiele bail in the sum of 20 million Naira, with a surety in like sum.
This declaration had followed a two-count charge of illegal possession of firearms levelled against him by the DSS.
Joseph Daudu, Emefiele’s lawyer, had applied for his client’s bail after Emefiele had pleaded not guilty to the two count charge.
Daudu had claimed that the offense for which Emefiele was being charged for, was bailable.
Emefiele had been brought to court by the DSS in a white Toyota Hilux pick-up van, at about 9:23 a.m.
On arriving at the court, the suspended CBN governor had been assisted by a female, to help him step down from the van.
