Sudan’s civil aviation authority has lengthened the closure of the Sudan airspace until August 15.
Exceptions to this announcement were made for evacuation flights and humanitarian aid, according to a statement Khartoum International Airport released on Monday, July 31.
Recall that the Sudanese airspace had been closed to regular traffic after a military conflict ensued between the country’s army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in the middle of April.
Since then, Sudan has been wrecked by conflict that has killed over 3,000 civilians and injured thousands.
Adding to this dismal news is the report by the International Organization for Migration, IOM, estimating that about three million people have been unsettled by the present conflict in the country Sudan.
