Tajudeen Abbas, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, has revealed that as a result of the recent series of attacks in certain parts of the country, the House would begin taking measures to address the insecurities in the country.

According to Mr Musa Krishi, the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Speaker, via a statement he issued out in Abuja on Saturday, August 19, Abbas had made the assurance during a condolence visit to the Emir of Zazzau’s home, Amb. Ahmed Bamalli.

Krishi had revealed that the visit was paid, to commiserate over the collapsed structural parts of the Zaria Central Mosque which killed several persons and injured many others during the Asr prayer on Friday, August 11 and to discuss on the bandit attack that claimed two lives in the Kofar Gayan area of Zaria on August 12.

According to the spokesperson, Abbas had, according to his spokesperson, pledged that the House would from henceforth, prevent further re-emergence of the attacks.

Abbas had also assured the emir that the military would set up a formation around several flashpoints to reduce future attacks on the communities in Zaria and its environs.

Abbas is quoted to have said:
“I want to reassure you all that based on the way insecurity has been trying to return, we in the House have taken some steps to diminish it.

“We have begun engaging the military. They will come and introduce a formation around the female school at the Kofar Gayan axis. I also want to guarantee to you all that as a son of the soil and one of the kingmakers in this palace, I am prepared to contribute to the reconstruction of the mosque.”
