I Will Stop Open-Grazing in Abuja –Wike

Nyesom Wike, the newly sworn in Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, has said that he would enter into a discussion with stakeholders to ban open grazing in the nation’s capital city, Abuja.

According to Wike, herdsmen could rear their cattle outside the city but they would no longer be permitted to graze on the grasses used for the aesthetics of the city.

The immediate ex-Rivers State Governor had made this declaration while assuming office as the latest FCT Minister in Abuja on Monday, August 21.
In his words:

“We will enter into discussion with the herdsmen to fond out how we can stop the open grazing. Cows can no longer be allowed into this city.”

“They are allowed to be outside the city because grasses grow outside the city but the grasses inside this city were planted to beautify the city. They (the cows) are not allowed to eat those.”

Wike had also pledged to crack down on illegal markets in the FCT.

“Abuja is a city where people sell things with umbrellas under the trees. Such situations bring about insecurity. We can no longer allow it to continue.” he said.
