Grammy-winning Nigerian Afrobeat singer, Damini Ogulu, a.k.a Burna Boy, has tallied with David Adeleke’s (Davido) record of having the highest peaking African album on the Apple Music United States chart.
Davido had set the record with his fourth studio album titled ‘Timeless,’ which peaked at Number 2 upon its release earlier this year.
However, Burna Boy’s just released album, ‘I Told Them,’ hit Number 2 on the United States Apple Music chart on Saturday, August 26, tying with Davido’s ‘Timeless’ to be the highest-peaking African project in the history of the chart.
A thing of pride and joy for Nigerians both home and abroad. Quite recently, the Afrobeat scene has seen an influx of foreign artistes from the United Kingdom to the United States competing to collaborate with the country’s biggest stars.
Burna Boy’s ‘I Told Them’ album released just this week has become the highest-peaking African project in European Apple Music Album chart’s history after debuting at number 2. Thus, Burna Boy broke the record he set with his 2022 album, ‘Love, Damini’ which peaked at Number 3, to achieve this latest and commendable feat.
