Just In: Supreme Court Fixes Date for Nnamdi Kanu’s Hearing

The Supreme Court has announced that it will on Thursday, October 5th, 2023, listen to all the appeals in Nnamdi Kanu’s- the header of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB)- case.

It is if note to highlight that on 13th October, 2022, the Court of Appeal in FCT, Abuja delivered a judgment in an appeal filed by Kanu’s counsel, Mike Ozekhome (SAN) challenging sections of the Federal High Court’s ruling.

The Federal High Court had clung to seven counts out of the original 15 counts against Kanu, after revoking eight out of the 15-count charge.

The Court of Appeal, in allowance of the appeal filed by Ozekhome, had ordered the Federal Government to promptly release Kanu with no conditions.

The intermediate court advanced in the previously mentioned judgement, to stop the Federal Government from further confining Kanu, or prosecuting him on any indictment or charge before any court of law in the country.

But, a statement released by Ifeanyi Ejiofor, Nnamdi Kanu’s lead Counsel, had revealed that during the recommenced hearing, the Supreme Court will be pressured to dismiss the appeal filed by the Federal Government.
