Hey there! It’s party time for Arsenal! The Gunners just broke an eight-year jinx, as Gabriel Martinelli’s late, and somewhat lucky, goal secured a 1-0 win against Manchester City, the reigning champs.

Imagine this: Arsenal, known for their long streak of defeats against Pep Guardiola’s City, finally had their day of reckoning at the Emirates Stadium. It was like winning the lottery, but in football!

In the 86th minute, Martinelli unleashed a shot that had a chat with City’s Nathan Ake, resulting in a hilarious deflection. Arsenal fans partied like it was 1999 (well, 2015 in this case) as they celebrated a Premier League victory over the mighty City for the first time in ages.

Earlier, Arsenal had managed to win a match against City in the Community Shield, but that felt like a warm-up compared to this big win. It also pushed them two points ahead of City in the league standings, with Tottenham leading the pack thanks to more goals.

City, on the other hand, seems to have misplaced their powers. They’ve lost two consecutive league games, and there’s a League Cup loss in the mix too. Not the kind of form you’d expect from a team that was on a winning spree.

Pep Guardiola has his work cut out, and this loss was like a banana peel in City’s path to glory. Arteta, his former assistant, managed to outwit him this time, and it added a spicy twist to the title race.

City had their chances, including a close call with Josko Gvardiol’s header and a Nathan Ake blunder in front of goal. Arsenal’s goalkeeper, David Raya, had his moments of panic, but somehow they survived.

Arsenal’s Martin Odegaard and Mateo Kovacic had their tiffs with City players, and VAR had a say too.

In the second half, Arsenal upped their game. Martinelli and Co. went on the attack, but Guardiola’s substitutions didn’t quite do the trick.

Then came the masterstroke from Arteta. He brought in Thomas Partey and Kai Havertz, and that changed the game. City seemed content with a draw, but Arsenal kept pushing.

Finally, in the 86th minute, Partey’s long pass met Havertz, and Martinelli did the rest. The Brazilian smashed a shot that decided to take a detour off Ake’s foot before beating a bewildered Ederson.

It was a dramatic end to a game that had its fair share of funny and serious moments. Arsenal fans partied like there was no tomorrow, and City left with their tails between their legs. Football, as they say, is full of surprises!
