Breaking News: Court Sentences ASP Vandi to Death By Hanging for Murdering Bolanle Raheem

A Lagos high court, located at the Tafawa Balewa Square, TBS has sentenced Policeman, ASP Drambi Vandi, to death by hanging, for murdering a property Lawyer, Omobolanle Raheem.

Justice Ibironke Harrison had in the judgement held that ASP Vandi was guilty of murder declaring:

“You are to be hanged by the neck until you are pronounced dead. May God have mercy on your soul.”

Vandi had gunned down Mrs. Raheem in the presence of her husband while they were returning from church on Christmas Day last year (2022) at a Police checkpoint in Lagos.

Mrs Raheem had been heavily pregnant when she was fatally shot on Christmas day by the police officer attached to the Ajiwe police division in the Ajah area of Lagos state.

Justice Harrison in the judgment, held that it was only the convict that had the opportunity to commit the crime even though no eyewitness saw him fire the shot.

The law court had also held that the evidence of the 11 witnesses who testified for the prosecution was trustworthy and convincing enough to convict the suspended police officer.

The Lagos State government had also arraigned Vandi before the court for reportedly killing the 41-year-old pregnant lawyer at the Ajah underbridge checkpoint on December 25, 2022.

More details to come……
