In a troubling incident shedding light on the ongoing security challenges in Nigeria, gunmen have once again struck, this time targeting Nasarawa State University, Keffi. The heart-wrenching episode unfolded on Tuesday when four innocent students found themselves in the clutches of abductors.

According to reports, the assailants stormed their residence in Angwan Kare, located within the Keffi Local Government Area. The incident was officially confirmed by DSP Ramhan Nansel, the Police Public Relations Officer, who conveyed the distressing news to Channels Television during a phone conversation.

Nansel revealed that the State Police Command had received an urgent call in the early hours of Tuesday, alerting them to the armed attack on a house in Angwan Kare. “The command is aware of kidnapping at about 12:55 am as a distress was received that a house located at Angwan Kaare, Keffi was invaded by unidentified armed men,” Nansel stated.

Despite concerted efforts by law enforcement agencies, including collaboration with the military, the culprits remained elusive after a thorough search of the area. However, Nansel reassured the public that a relentless manhunt had been initiated to secure the safe release of the abducted students. “The Commissioner of Police has ordered a manhunt for the culprits with a view to rescuing the victims unhurt,” he declared.

The victims, all of whom were first-year students at the university, have been identified as Rahila Hanya (Science Laboratory Technology), Josephine Gersho (Computer Science), Rosemary Samuel (Business Administration), and Goodness Samuel (Geography). Their families and the entire nation are left in a state of anxiety and uncertainty, highlighting the disturbing frequency of such incidents.

As this distressing event unfolds, many are left wondering about the government’s response to the persistent security challenges in the nation. It’s a stark reminder of the harsh reality faced by Nigerians, where the threat of kidnapping looms, and the safety of loved ones hangs in the balance.
