The Abuja Federal High Court’s Chief Justice, Nyang Ekwo in Abuja has confirmed the credibility of the Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah’s National Youth Service Corps–NYSC certificate as validly issued by the corps.

While delivering judgment on Monday, November 6, Justice Ekwo held that the evidence before the court revealed that the governor had been mobilized for service in 2001, but he had completed it in 2003.

According to the court, Mbah had midway into his service year, sought and received permission from NYSC to attend the Nigeria Law School. He was thereafter reinstated into the NYSC scheme in 2003.

Justice Ekwo also highlighted that while the evidence that Gov. Mbah had served in the law firm of a certain Mr Udeh had not been challenged by the NYSC, he reproached the corps for not charging the governor for forgery if they had actually believed that they had not issued the said NYSC certificate to him.

Ekwo then concluded that the NYSC was troublesome and jad acted in bad faith and recklessness by denying Mbah’s NYSC certificate.

The court afterwards, found the Director General and the NYSC corps guilty of misrepresentation of material facts, and had awarded the sum of N5 million damages against them.
