About seven persons suspected of masterminding the series of abductions that rocked Kwara South senatorial district are presently in police custody.
Their arrest is a follow-up to the concerning incidents of abductions in a few parts of Kwara South senatorial district, especially in Ora, Oke-Ode, and the other areas in Ifelodun Local Government Area.
The Kwara State Police Command had launched a powerful team of operatives gotten from various units, including Counter Terrorism, Anti-Robbery, Anti-Kidnapping, Anti-Cultism, Anti-Narcotics, Explosive Ordinance Department–EOD, Police Mobile Force–PMF, and Police Medical.
The team was given the directive to search the forests in the identified areas, nab criminals, recover arms and ammunition, rescue victims, and also rid the areas of criminal elements.
The operation commenced on November 1, 2023, and produced positive outcomes: the arrests of seven alleged kidnappers identified as Umaru Mohammodu, Mohammodu Mohammodu, Garuba Abubakar, Iliasu Usman, Ibraheem Abubakar, Usman Haruna, and their informant, Umaru Bello.
The Commissioner of Police has meanwhile promised that the command’s team was hot on the heels of the criminals and will not stop until they were all brought to book.
