In the bid to help minimize the repercussions caused by the termination of fuel subsidies, Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has authorized a pay raise of N15,000 for each employee in the state.
The governor also authorized an allocation of N10,000 for each retired person in the state in the same vein.
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Human Resources and Capacity Building, Olugbenga Fadele, had made the announcement on Wednesday, stating that the six month wage award will start in December.
The spokesperson for the governor, Olawale Rasheed, had mentioned that it was part of Adeleke’s promise to look after the needs of employees and to progressively set in motion, relief aids to ease the consequences of subsidy eradication.
As a result of the negotiations and meetings with the labor force in Osun State, –which included those from the Nigeria Union of Pensioners– His Excellency Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, the Governor of Osun State passed judgement to give each active worker in the state a N15,000 monthly payment, and a N10,000 payment to each pensioner, as a way to ameliorate the hardships caused by the Federal Government’s removal of petroleum subsidy, according to a statement.
The payment, as agreed upon, is to commence from December 2023 and will span over a period of six months.
Adeleke also expressed appreciation for the Osun state workers and pensioners who have been understanding of the state government’s attempts to boost and improve their welfare.
The statement indicated that the government’s action is anticipated to motivate the employees in the state to be more diligent and devoted to their responsibilities.
