Richard Olatunde, the Chief Press Secretary to former Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State, has resigned. But there’s more to this than meets the eye. Some within Akeredolu’s inner circle were possibly behind the report that got Ayedatiwa in trouble with the former governor. These loyalists, now faced with a new governor they didn’t back, aren’t ready to yield.
Additionally, Dare Aragbaye, the Special Adviser on Union Matters and Special Duties, also submitted his resignation.
Their letters to the Office of the Secretary to the State Government stated Akeredolu’s death as the trigger for their resignations.
Olatunde’s letter highlighted his deep respect for Akeredolu, citing the late governor’s qualities as the driving force behind his service. Aragbaye’s resignation was similarly rooted in loyalty to the departed governor.
Reports confirmed Akeredolu’s passing in Germany at 67. Meanwhile, Aiyedatiwa has been sworn in as the new governor at the Government House, Alagbaka, Akure.
The unwavering loyalty of Akeredolu’s supporters remains unwavering, even in the face of change.
