The Lagos State Government has cautioned entertainment houses/centers within the state against selling and distributing of fake drinks.
The Special Adviser to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mr Idris Aregbe, had issued the warning through a statement posted on his instagram page and ended with a hashtag: #idrisconnectingnigeria#.
Aregbe additionally remarked that this was in response to the mounting concern on fake drinks making rounds in clubs and restaurants statewide.
According to him, the pervasiveness of fake drinks constitutes a significant threat to public health and safety. To this effect, the Governor intensified and coordinated its administration’s efforts to eliminate the substandard products from circulating in the state.
“We encourage all clubs, restaurants and public places where drinks are being sold to exercise due diligence in making sure that they do not purchase or serve fake drinks to unsuspecting consumers.”
Aregbe had additionally revealed that the state would be partnering with Mr Ononiwu Ezeribe, the Director, Investigation and Enforcement, National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, and the Lagos State Safety Commission led by Lanre Mojola.
Lastly, Aregbe warned that any entertainment place or congregation discovered serving or selling fake drinks will face an instantaneous closure, and their operating license will suspended.
