London Authorities Hot On The Heels of Suspect after Chemical Attack Leaves Many Injured

The British police have begun a manhunt for a suspect who maimed several people by throwing an corroding chemical on them. There is much attention on the suspect’s status as they had been granted asylum after being convicted for sexual assault.

London’s Metropolitan Police is presently looking for Abdul Shokoor Ezedi after a woman and her two daughters, aged 8 and 3, were assaulted on Wednesday night in Clapham, south London. The victims at a hospital, fighting for their lives.

Three other women and an adult male who came to their defence had suffered minor burns and injuries. Additionally, five police officers who responded were also injured.

Britain’s interior minister James Cleverly, had on Friday condemned the violence, calling it appalling said in a statement on Friday.

“My thoughts are with them and the brave members of the public and police who intervened,” he said, adding that it would be unsuitable to comment further while live investigation was still ongoing.

A source well versed with the case had informed Reuters that Ezedi had been allowed asylum in Britain and had been previously convicted for sexual assault.

BBC has said that Ezedi was originally from Afghanistan and had arrived Britain in 2016.

The arrival of asylum seekers into the country has been the focus of a impassioned political debate in Britain on how to curb illegal migration.

Rishi Sunak, the British Prime Minister has made fighting the issue a key commitment ahead of an election expected later this year.
