Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has given his blessings to outgoing club legend Sergio Aguero’s move to Spanish giants FC Barcelona.

The Argentinian striker is set to call time on his ten-year association with the Sky Blues at the expiration of his contract this summer, and Barcelona – actively in the market for a striker – are in pole position to make him one of the first arrivals under new club President Juan Laporta’s second stint at the helm, following an agreement in principle to sign for two years.

“Maybe I reveal a secret, maybe he is close to agreeing a deal for the club of my heart – for Barcelona,” said a tearful Guardiola after the game.

“He is going to be playing alongside the best player of all time, Messi.

“I’m pretty sure he is going to enjoy. And maybe Barcelona are stronger and stronger with him on the pitch.”

“Sergio is a special person. It was a perfect game and a fairy tale moment. So good for him.”

According to football transfers expert Fabrizio Romano, City’s leading all-time highest goal scorer is joining the Blaugrana for less than what is on offer elsewhere, but will be entitled to earning a bonus should they go on to win the Champions League.

History Maker, Premier League Champion – Befitting End To An Incredible Journey

Aguero marked the occasion of his last ever league appearance for the club by scoring twice as they thrashed Everton 5-0 on Sunday evening, before lifting the Premier League title in front of almost 10,000 returning home fans at the Etihad Stadium.

The 32-year-old’s 183rd and 184th Premier League goals lift him above former Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney for the most goals scored at one club by a Premier League player.

260 goals – including THAT WINNER AGAINST QPR in his debut season – in 398 appearances across all competitions since sealing a move worth a reported £35 million from Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2011 as the then Roberto Mancini-led side looked to engrave their footprints on the highest echelons of the English game, as well as in Europe.

Fast forward 2021, they have gone on to amass five Premier League titles, an FA Cup and six League Cups, and are within 90 minutes and fellow finalists Chelsea of a first ever Champions League triumph.

Kun Kun has been one of the most important – if not the most important – pieces of fabric in Manchester City’s rise to prominence this decade. He is leaving behind a strong legacy at the Etihad and tales of his heroics will be passed down to generations for many, many years to come.
