Slay for Less: Your Budget Beauty Blueprint

Everybody wants to look their best at all times and standout in a good way. What better way to do that than by looking your most beautiful?

When it comes to the subject of beauty, there are so many things that us ladies in particular feel we need to always improve on.

The girlies want their lashes popping, eyebrows micro-bladed, nails shiny and manicured, the legs lasered of every bit of hair and of course, our shiny manes (the hair) always on fleek! With all these listed, it is not easy on anyone’s budget.

There seems to be a new product launching every day, massive sales and a wave of new trends happening concurrently each year, and if you add it all up, the expenses become significant.

However if you’re on a budget (who isn’t, seriously?), then you’re most likely always on the lookout for money-saving tips/hacks online and offline. I can relate, and that’s why I’m going to let you in on four ways I save money on beauty products:

  • Consider Purchasing Coconut Oil:
  • Swap Your Liquid Soap For a Bar Soap:
  • Avoid Impulse Buying:
  • Buy in Bulk:
  • Takeaways:

Consider Purchasing Coconut Oil:

Yes, you read it right. If you’re an ardent reader of my beauty articles, you’ll know I wholeheartedly believe in the power of coconut oil in a girl’s life. Coconut oil is that babe that just effortlessly does it all and slays while at it. It’s good for the skin, good for the hair, and even great for lip care. Additionally, this oil is a great substitute for conditioners and you can make nice hand-made soaps and exfoliating scrubs with it.

Swap Your Liquid Soap For a Bar Soap:

Before you gasp and give me the side-eye, hear me out first. Logically, a bar soap is guaranteed to last longer than its liquid counterpart. It is also cheaper too. There are honestly no real added benefits to using a liquid bath soap over a bar soap, forget what the commercials say.

Avoid Impulse Buying:

Easier said than done, right? But this tip might be the most important on this list. Before you head out with your money bag, to go purchase the first fancy thing that meets your eye, stop and write down or make a budget of the products you need and why you need them. Putting some thought to why you want to make a particular purchase can help you avoid impulsively buying something just because you have the means to buy it.

Additionally, if the product is leaning towards the pricey end, watch YouTube and online review sites to determine whether the purchase is worth it, before you buy it.

Buy in Bulk:

Seems counter-effective right? Not. The trick is to go for beauty products that don’t easily expire and that you’re almost always using, hence it depletes very quickly. The products could be soap bars, facial wipes (baby wipes), cotton buds/swabs, lipgloss, shampoo, makeup sponges etc.

In the long run, you’ll find that buying your most used products in big quantities is cost effective, hence helps your budget.

Takeaways:

  • One of the best ways to look and maintain beauty on a budget is to simply cut back and spend on the most necessary.
  • If you want to make your money go further, you’ll need to reconsider your bi-weekly braids and manicure or monthly false eyelashes.
  • Always remember that when you’re in better control over your funds, you feel more confident in yourself because you’re living out your values and moulding a life you love. Neat, right?

I really enjoyed this post, especially the part about impulse buying. It’s essential to recognize that impulsive purchases can often lead to unnecessary expenses and clutter. To combat this, I’ve started making a list before shopping trips and sticking to it. I encourage others to adopt similar strategies and embrace a more intentional approach to shopping
