Following reports of killings in Adani, Uzo-Uwani LGA in Enugu State, by alleged Fulani herdsmen, the State Commissioner for Police, CP Kanayo Uzuegbu has issued an immediate quit order to criminals residing in the state, promising them a bitter end filled with regrets if they failed to exit the town instantly.
Meanwhile, the Osun State First Lady, Mrs. Ngozi Adeleke, had in a post, appealed to security agencies to take swift action in ensuring the safety of lives in the State.
News of this recent massacre had not gone down well with netizens, X users in particular as they had criticised the state government for allowing the tragedy to happen in the first place.
Some individuals had been of the opinion that the local vigilante men should be empowered and given the necessary weapons to fight the terrorists as was being doing in the North.
CP Uzoegbu had issued the immediate exit order on Monday when he led a team of seasoned police operatives to Adani, Uzo-Uwani LGA where two brothers, Mr. Ogbonna Fidelis Anene, aged 33, and Ogbonna John Onyeka, aged 25, were gruesomely murdered on their way to the farm on Sunday, April 7.
CP Uzoegbu had expressed regret over the ugly incident, reassuring the people of Adani that a crack squad had been sent after the suspects and security had been reinforced in the border of the local government area.
Presently, residents have been urged to go about their lawful businesses, with the assurance that security agencies would secure both their home and in their farmlands.
Uzo Uwani local government area in Enugu State is no strangers from sudden and unanticipated attacks from suspected Fulani herdsmen as they had in the past, been attacked in like manner.
This attack happened in April 2016, when 500 suspected herdsmen stormed Nimbo in Uzo Uwani and killed about 40 people.
It is a quiet prayer that justice be given to those slayed by bringing those behind the attacks to book.
