The Governor of Jigawa State, Umar Namadi, has approved a 50 per cent increase in feeding fee in public boarding schools in the state.

The approval was signed on Friday 12th April.

The Commissioner for Higher Education, Yusuf Chamo, announced this in a statement issued at Dutse, the state capital.

Jigawa State government increases Feeding fees in boarding schools by 50%

According to Mr Chamo, the increment is due to the current inflation being experienced in the country, revealing that the state government had been recieving complaints from contractors engaged to provide services for the students.
The commissioner said the increase is to ensure that “quality and nutritious” food are provided for students across the state.

He noted that the state government reviewed the project in response to the complaint from the food service providers and that, as a matter or urgency, in order to rescue the situation and ensure sanity.

He further said, It is only
through the increment that the contractors can continue to supply quality and hygienic food items to the boarding schools.”
