Why it Matters?

The news comes as a devastating blow to a community already struggling with the ongoing conflict. Thousands have fled their homes in recent months, seeking refuge in Goma as a rebel group backed by Rwanda advances closer to the city.

What They Are Saying

Local authorities confirmed the deaths, with the head of the affected district, Dedesi Mitima, witnessing the aftermath firsthand. He reported seeing the bodies of seven children and two men, with several others injured. The death toll is expected to rise as rescue efforts continue.

Bottom Line

While the exact cause of the airstrike remains unclear, it has sent shockwaves through the already fragile region. The Congolese army has yet to comment on the incident, leaving many with unanswered questions and a deep sense of grief for the innocent lives lost.
