The Premier League has unveiled the highly-anticipated shortlist for the 2023/24 Young Player of the Season award, featuring eight outstanding talents who have made significant impacts on the pitch throughout the campaign.

Any player aged 23 or younger at the start of the season is eligible for the prestigious award, which will be determined by a combination of a public vote and input from a panel of experts.

Erling Haaland, last year’s recipient and Manchester City sensation, leads the list once again after another prolific goalscoring season. The Norwegian striker’s remarkable tally of 25 goals in 28 games has propelled him to the top of the Golden Boot race, reaffirming his status as one of the league’s most lethal finishers.

Phil Foden, Haaland’s Manchester City teammate, is back in contention following a stellar campaign that earned him the FWA Footballer of the Year award. The 23-year-old midfielder has been instrumental in City’s success, showcasing his exceptional talent and versatility on the field.

Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak has emerged as a strong contender for the award after a sensational individual season. The Swedish striker’s impressive haul of 20 goals in 27 appearances has sparked speculation of a lucrative move to Europe’s elite clubs, highlighting his potential and prowess in front of goal.

Manchester United’s rising star Kobbie Mainoo earns his maiden nomination on the shortlist at just 19 years old. The midfielder has seamlessly integrated himself into the Red Devils’ midfield, earning plaudits for his mature performances and earning a maiden call-up to the England national team.

Cole Palmer, Chelsea’s standout performer of the season, has been a revelation since his arrival at Stamford Bridge. The former Manchester City prodigy has shouldered immense responsibility, spearheading Chelsea’s attack with 21 goals and nine assists in his debut season with the club.

Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka, a consistent performer for the Gunners, is eyeing his first Young Player of the Season accolade after leading his team in both goals and assists. Meanwhile, William Saliba has been a defensive stalwart for Mikel Arteta’s side, playing a pivotal role in Arsenal’s resilient backline.

Tottenham Hotspur’s Destiny Udogie completes the illustrious shortlist despite his season being cut short by injury. The talented left-back impressed with his performances under manager Ange Postecoglou, earning praise for his defensive prowess and attacking flair.

As the race for the 2023/24 Young Player of the Season heats up, football fans eagerly await the announcement of the winner, who will join the ranks of past recipients in receiving this prestigious honor.
