The Premier League has unveiled the distinguished list of nominees for the coveted Player of the Season award for the 2023-24 campaign. The accolade, partially determined by a public vote accessible via the Premier League website until midday on Monday, May 13, will see the winner announced on Saturday, May 18, following deliberations from a panel of football experts.

Among the contenders is Phil Foden of Manchester City, whose exceptional season saw him contribute 16 goals and eight assists, making significant strides in his quest to secure a historic fourth consecutive Premier League title for Pep Guardiola’s side.

Erling Haaland, last year’s recipient from Manchester City, remains a formidable force with 25 goals and five assists in just 28 appearances, leading the charge for the Golden Boot and showcasing his unparalleled prowess in front of goal.

Newcastle’s Alexander Isak, a nominee for the second consecutive season, has made waves with his remarkable tally of 20 goals in 27 league outings, a feat not achieved by a Magpies player since Alan Shearer in 2002-03.

Martin Odegaard, the Arsenal skipper, has been instrumental in his team’s title challenge, contributing eight goals and eight assists while creating 94 chances, the second-highest in the league this season.

Chelsea’s Cole Palmer has enjoyed a sensational debut season, amassing 21 goals and nine assists, marking himself as only the third player aged 21 or younger to reach 30 goal involvements.

Arsenal’s Declan Rice has seamlessly transitioned from a holding midfielder to an all-around performer, notching seven goals and eight assists while showcasing his defensive prowess with 79 tackles and 43 interceptions.

Virgil van Dijk, the Liverpool stalwart, has reclaimed his dominant form, excelling in his defensive duties with a remarkable 186 aerial duels won and being dribbled past just twice in 34 appearances.

Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins rounds off the list with 19 goals and 12 assists, leading the pack in goal involvements with 31 in 35 appearances and positioning himself as a strong contender for both the Golden Boot and the Playmaker Award.

As the Premier League season draws to a close, football enthusiasts eagerly await the announcement of the prestigious Player of the Season award, recognizing the outstanding contributions of these exceptional athletes to the beautiful game.
