Brazil Announces Squad for Copa America: Young Talent Endrick Included, Casemiro and Richarlison Miss Out

Brazil’s head coach, Dorival Junior, revealed the 23-player squad for the upcoming Copa America, featuring a mix of established stars and emerging talents. Among the notable inclusions is 17-year-old Palmeiras prodigy Endrick, signaling a vote of confidence in the youngster’s potential.

However, the absence of seasoned campaigners such as defensive midfielder Casemiro and forward Richarlison has raised eyebrows. The exclusion of Arsenal’s Gabriel Jesus and Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Matheus Cunha further underlines the competitive nature of Brazil’s selection process.

Leading the charge in attack are Real Madrid duo Vinicius Jr and Rodrygo, supported by the dynamic duo of Raphinha and Gabriel Martinelli. Despite Richarlison’s prolific form this season, with 12 goals and four assists across all competitions, he finds himself omitted from the squad.

Real Madrid defender Eder Militao, who has recently recovered from an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury, has earned a place in the squad, adding defensive solidity to Brazil’s backline.

The Copa America campaign kicks off for Brazil with matches against Costa Rica on June 24th, Paraguay on June 28th, and Colombia on July 2nd. With the tournament set to be held in the United States from June 20th to July 14th, Brazil will look to add to their illustrious record of nine championships.

In preparation for the Copa America, Brazil will engage in friendly fixtures against Mexico on June 8th and the United States on June 12th, providing an opportunity for Dorival Junior to fine-tune his squad ahead of the prestigious tournament.

The selected squad features a blend of experience and youth, with the likes of Alisson Becker, Marquinhos, and Vinicius Jr providing leadership alongside promising talents like Endrick and Joao Gomes. As Brazil aims to reclaim Copa America glory, all eyes will be on the dynamic mix of players tasked with delivering success on the international stage.
