Wike’s Mea Culpa: Minister Admits Backing Wrong Horse for Rivers State Governorship!

It seems like a bit of drama is unfolding in the political arena. The main characters? None other than the self-proclaimed “Godfather” and his supposed “Godson.”

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, took center stage, admitting to a rather amusing blunder. He publicly confessed that backing Siminalayi Fubara as his successor in Rivers State was indeed a mistake. Addressing the folks in Ogu/Bolo Local Government Area, he owned up to his goof and extended an apology, because, well, as he put it, “I’m only human.”

In a classic display of humility, Wike acknowledged the inevitability of errors and promised to rectify this one at the right moment.

“I want to say this clearly, in life when you have made a mistake, you say I have made a mistake, there is nothing you can do about it. I have made a mistake, I own it up and I say God forgive me and I will say all of you forgive me, but I will correct it at the appropriate time.

“I am a human being, I am bound to make mistake, my judgement can be wrong, so forgive me for making a wrong judgement. That is life, so nobody should kill himself,” Wike said

Now, onto the juicy part: Fubara, the Chief of Staff to the aforementioned Governor, recently made waves with his statement about not worshipping Wike, despite his gratitude for the support. In response, Wike made it crystal clear that he’s no deity to be worshipped. However, he did emphasize the importance of gratitude in politics, hinting that a little appreciation goes a long way.

“So, when you are helped you appreciate them and then God will know that you have also appreciated him. I have never told anybody to worship me, nobody can worship man.

“All of us believe that we only have one God and it is only that God we worship and we will continue to worship that God. But as politicians, you appreciate people who have helped you,” he said.

But wait, there’s more! It appears there’s been a bit of tension between Governor Fubara and his former mentor Wike, stirring up a political storm in Rivers State. But hey, as they say, “Godfather and Godson wahala, that is not our business.”
