Reps Probe Efficiency of Airline Personnel, Keyamo to Respond

Nigerian airlines are facing increased public scrutiny following recent incidents that have raised questions about the safety of air travel. Adding to the concern, the UK Civil Aviation Authority reported local airline operator Air Peace to the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) over alleged non-compliance with safety regulations in the UK. This has heightened worries about the safety of air travelers.

Parliamentary Action

In response to these issues, a member of the Nigerian House of Representatives, Honourable Jesse Onuakalusi, raised the matter during a sitting on Tuesday. He called for an urgent audit of airline personnel and their competence. This decision, raised as a matter of urgent national importance, reflects growing concerns about the safety standards at Nigerian airports.

The House of Representatives expressed alarm over the alleged employment of incompetent personnel at airports across the country. They have requested the Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, to conduct a comprehensive audit of all airport personnel and contractors engaged over the past year.

As part of the resolution, the House has summoned Keyamo to appear before the aviation committee within seven days.
