Banex Plaza Reopens Under Army Supervision

The Nigerian Army has revealed that it met with the leadership and management of Banex Plaza, Wuse, over the unwarranted attack by unidentified hoodlums on Nigerian Army personnel and had together, determined to reopen the plaza immediately.

This news is coming after unidentified hoodlums, had on Saturday, May 18, 2024, instigated unprovoked attacks on Nigerian Army personnel at Banex Plaza, Wuse, Abuja, ultimately leading to the plaza’s closure.

Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, the Director, Army Public Relations, had in a statement that was released, said that a meeting was held in the Office of the National Security Adviser, in the presence of the Principal General Staff Officer to the NSA, FCT Commissioner of Police, FCT Director of the Department of State Services, a representative of the Directorate of Abuja Environmental Protection Board, and the national chairman of the Mobile Phone Traders Association. It was in this meeting, that the leadership of Banex Plaza was instructed to close up Shop C93 with instantly.

According to the statement, the owners of the shop that masterminded the mob attack on the soldiers would be arrested and handed over to the Nigerian Police.

The statement ended with the Nigerian Army saying it would also rigorously investigate the circumstances surrounding the presence of its personnel at the plaza and the attack that came after.
