Lagos State Launches Free Medical Outreach to Serve 50,000 Residents

In a significant move to enhance healthcare access and alleviate economic challenges, the Lagos State Government has announced a free medical outreach set to benefit 50,000 residents. This initiative, directed by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, is part of the broader Eko Cares program, aiming to provide essential healthcare services across all six health districts in the state. The program is scheduled to kick off on Thursday, May 30, 2024.

The free medical outreach, set to commence on Thursday, May 30, 2024, will offer a wide range of healthcare services. According to the State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Gbenga Omotoso, the outreach is part of the broader Eko Cares program designed to alleviate economic challenges faced by residents.

  • – LASRRA registration

The program will be conducted in all six health districts, with specific locations and dates as follows:

Health District 1:
  • – Egbe Idimu (Alimosho LGA)
  • – Ifako-Ijaiye LGA Secretariat
  • – Ipaja PHC (Alimosho LGA)
  • – Agege Legislative Complex
Health District 2:
  • – Kosofe LG (Papa area, Oworo)
  • – Bariga LCDA (Pedro)
  • – Ikorodu West LCDA Secretariat
  • – Agboyi-Ketu LCDA (Alapere)
Health District 3:
  • – Epe Recreation
  • – Iberekodo Primary School (Ibeju-Lekki LGA)
  • – Ikota Primary School (Eti-Osa LGA)
  • – Resettlement Area (Araromi Community, Eti-Osa East LCDA)
Health District 4:
  • – Evans Square (Ebute Meta)
  • – Mini Campos Stadium (Lagos Island)
  • – Astroturf Stadium (Apapa)
  • – Aguda Praying Ground (Surulere)
Health District 5:
  • – FHA Grounds (Festac Town, Amuwo Odofin LGA)
  • – Ojo LGA Secretariat
  • – Suntan Beach (Badagry West LCDA)
  • – Ajeromi Ifelodun LGA Secretariat
Health District 6:
  • – Methodist Primary School (Oshodi)
  • – Ejigbo Market
  • – Bishop Aggrey Place (Mushin)
  • – Ikeja Under Bridge

The initial phase will target approximately 25,000 individuals, with each health district hosting four outreach events.

Government’s Commitment

Mr. Omotoso emphasized the initiative’s role in improving primary healthcare efficiency and ensuring equitable access to quality medical services. He highlighted that the outreach is a testament to the Sanwo-Olu administration’s strategic direction to transform the health sector into a significant contributor to the state’s economy, ensuring that every Lagos resident receives the medical care they need.

Broader Eko Cares Program

In addition to the medical outreach, the Eko Cares program includes other initiatives to ease economic burdens:

  • – A 25% reduction in transport fares
  • – Free delivery services for expectant women in all general hospitals
  • – A 25% reduction in food prices at Sunday markets
