Delta State Police Command operatives raided a criminal hideout in Agbarho, Ughelli North Local Government Area, as part of their ongoing efforts to combat crime in the area. Acting on intelligence provided by a vigilant member of the community, the police targeted suspected kidnappers who had been operating in Ughelli, Agbarho, Warri, Sapele, and surrounding areas. The hideout was located near Uwurghelli village, adjacent to the rail tracks.
Following the received intelligence, Josephine Ekebuike, the Divisional Police Officer of Agbarho Police Division, promptly organized and guided police personnel to the bush area.
They blocked off the vicinity and conducted a thorough search, uncovering sack bags concealed in the foliage. Upon inspecting the contents of the sacks, they discovered three AK-49 rifles, two AK-47 rifles, and 207 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition.
As a result, the police command has initiated a search operation to apprehend the suspected kidnappers who fled the scene. In the interim, Commissioner of Police Olufemi Abaniwonda praised the swift action taken by the DPO and the officers of the Agbarho Division in response to the intelligence received.
“Police-community partnership is the best for optimal results,” the police boss said.
