The Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) has issued a command for all its branches to issue a two-week ultimatum to the chief medical directors and managing directors (CMDs/ MDs) so they could immediately pay the accoutrement allowance being owed their members.

The medical association had in a communique issued after its general meeting which held in Kaduna, cautioned that failure to comply with the directive would result in a nationwide industrial action.

This communique was signed by the President, Dr Dele Abdullahi Olaitan; Dr Anaduaka Christopher Obinna, the Secretary General; and Dr Egbe John Jonah, the Public and Special Secretary.

During the meeting, the association had advocated for the elimination of the treating doctors casually to ensure both equitable and secure employment practices in Nigeria.

The medics had also urged the healthcare facilities to speed up their migration to the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS) in order to efficiently streamline the payroll procedures.

The doctors further emphasized their viewpoint that any assault on medical workers would lead to an immediate termination of services until the safety of the area is guaranteed for practice.

Finally, they appealed for a reduction in the examination fees for the West African Colleges of Surgeons and Physicians to accelerate the registration of resident doctors.
