Armed bandits have ambushed Magarya community in Zurmi Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
According to reports eleven persons, including seven mobile police officers and four civilians, were butchered in the attack.
Three cars, including that of Margarya’s district head — the brother of the former speaker of the Zamfara State House of Assembly, Nasir Magarya— were destroyed in the fray.
Additionally, reports have said that chairs in the sitting room of the former speaker’s house were set on fire.
An eyewitness, Ahmad Umar, further recounted how Magarya Model Primary School was set ablaze, with many people sustaining various degrees of injuries as a result.
As at the time of filing this news report, efforts to get in touch with the State Police Command’s spokesman, ASP Yazid Abubakar, proved abortive.
