Iga Swiatek cemented her status as the reigning Queen of Clay by capturing her third consecutive French Open title on Saturday. The 23-year-old World No. 1 delivered a masterclass at Roland Garros, overpowering Italy’s Jasmine Paolini 6-2, 6-1 in a final that lasted just 68 minutes.

Swiatek, now a four-time French Open champion, joined the ranks of Justine Henin, Chris Evert, and Steffi Graf as the only women in the Open era to claim the prestigious Coupe Suzanne Lenglen four times. Her dominance in Paris also makes her the third woman, after Henin and Monica Seles, to win three straight French Open titles.

The Pole’s victory was built on her relentless baseline play and impeccable court coverage. Paolini, the 12th seed and a first-time Grand Slam finalist, was no match for Swiatek’s precision and power. Despite a spirited start, which saw her break Swiatek early on, Paolini was swiftly broken back and struggled to keep pace with the defending champion’s intensity.

Swiatek’s triumph in Paris extends her winning streak at Roland Garros to 20 matches, a run that dates back to a quarter-final exit in 2021. This year, she added to her clay-court accolades with wins in Madrid and Rome, underscoring her formidable presence on the surface.

Reflecting on her victory, Swiatek expressed her deep affection for the Parisian clay. “It’s amazing to be here, I love this place. I wait every year to come back here,” she said. She also praised Paolini for her breakthrough performance, acknowledging the Italian’s impressive journey to the final and wishing her luck in the doubles final.

Paolini, despite the loss, had a remarkable fortnight at Roland Garros. Her run to the singles and doubles finals marked a significant milestone in her career, showcasing her evolution into a formidable competitor on the biggest stage.

As Swiatek celebrated her latest triumph, the tennis world witnessed the continued rise of a clay-court powerhouse, poised to dominate for years to come.
